The digital transformation of industry is no longer just about connecting machines or automating processes. The real challenge is turning data into decisions, enabling organizations, systems, and ecosystems to collaborate in an efficient, secure, and governed way.
With this goal in mind, Telefónica participated in Advanced Factories 2026, the leading industrial innovation event held in Barcelona, where it showcased how data spaces are becoming a key pillar for the connected industry of the future. During the event, held under the theme “Next-Gen of Automation,” different solutions were presented aimed at accelerating industrial digitalization through artificial intelligence, automation, advanced connectivity, and intelligent data management.
Data as the Engine of the Smart Industry
One of the main areas of interest at the fair was the need to overcome the traditional data silos that still exist between organizations, production plants, suppliers, and customers.
Although companies are generating increasingly large amounts of data, much of its value remains underutilized due to the difficulty of sharing information in a secure, controlled, and compliant manner. Data spaces emerge precisely to address this challenge, enabling the exchange of information between different actors without losing control over it.
In this context, Telefónica Tech Data Space was presented as a platform designed to facilitate the creation of multisector data spaces based on principles of sovereignty, interoperability, security, and governance.
During Advanced Factories 2026, Data Space took part in demonstrations aimed at showing how intelligent data management is transforming industry. The showcased use cases included advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, industrial traceability, and real-time data-driven decision-making.
The proposal generated strong interest among industrial companies seeking to move towards more open and efficient collaboration models, where secure data exchange becomes an enabler of innovation and competitiveness.
Data spaces represent a new way of collaborating between organizations, allowing value to be generated from data without compromising security or governance. From industry and logistics to healthcare, tourism, and smart cities, this technology opens the door to new business models based on digital trust.
